Week 5

 Commissioner's Corner

WE ARE BACK! Thanks for your patience, I know everyone is eagerly waiting for the next league note.

For those keen-eyed among you, I'm trying out a different platform for the weekly notes

Updated the Pythagorean win expectation with newer league data. Last model only had data through the first few weeks of the 2020 season. Now we have data through the end of the 2022 season. (I'll probably only update it yearly).
For the math nerds, the new exponent is 5.75 and we are within 1 (+/1) win from the true final standings 68% of the time going back all the way to 2016. If anyone has suggestions and is better at math (everyone besides Bret) please let me know.

Week 4 Recap

Whew that was a lot. Sorry for the math lesson there. Let's dive into it...

We've got some big spenders this year. Glad to see it as we usually have a ton of budget left over at the end of the season. All this spending did make me think of a potential new rule for next year...

On a sad note, I lost. The Giants continue to find new lows and Seattle's D just had to take advantage. I blame Bill Gates because the Seahawks D was only rostered in 14% of leagues last week and David wouldn't have had them if he didn't like Xbox and video games... nerd.

To comfort my misery everyone laugh at Bret's performance. Christian McCaffrey
put up more points than Bret's entire team. And although this was a bad week for Bret, it wasn't the worst we've seen. That honor still goes to Andy for 26 points he had back in 2015 or 2016 (I didn't keep good records back then).

Spoon of the Week

Bret in a landslide. Sorry buddy. I know you were working but we all got jobs and you always...ALWAYS...check your roster 15 minutes before the game starts (that's 8:45am for all my homies out in Alaska).

Week 5 Preview

On a fun note, today marks 50 straight days of football (FBS college or NFL). That's pretty neat.

On a not so fun note, bye weeks start and my team is decimated by them. My only good players Justin Herbert and Keenen Allen are both out.

Andy and Nathan face off this week in a potential battle for last place. You both can't win and I will eat my shirt if you end in a tie.

Outside of fantasy, glad Ohio State is playing again. My Saturday's feel so empty when they are on a bye. I did need an extra week for my heart rate to reset after that crazy finish against Notre Dame.

Stats n' Stuff

Continuing our math lesson, the Pythagorean expectation model is looking at seasons before we implemented 1/2 ppr and decimal kicker scoring.

So You Think You Can Dong?

Oof Bret, scoring a 47% of your best roster. Take is as a consolation that you wouldn't have won anyways.

I have a big lead so far this season at 94.7%. My only wish was that my team was actually good.

Adam is in last place at 76.3%. And could be 3-1 if he started his best lineup every week.
