Week 1 Recap

We are back!

HAHAHAHA at everyone who lost this week, imagine losing in fantasy and never getting to say you are undefeated. LOOOOOOOOSSSSSEEERRRRRSSSSS.

An additional HAHAHAHA to everyone else as I was the highest scorer this week (first time since week 14 of the 2022 season but who's counting?)

I'd also like to take a moment to laugh at the robots over at ESPN - the ones controlling Andy's team. They proudly declared themselves winners of the draft with an 'A' grade, placed themselves in first in the preseason power rankings, and then had the worst performance of the week. (I'm ignoring CMC not playing because it doesn't fit my narrative). 

Fun bonus metric: I wanted to see the impact on the kicker scoring change we've made and in week 1, the average starting kicker scored... are you ready for this??? An average of 0.12 more points compared to the old scoring method. 

Week 2 Preview

Let's take a look at overreactions on the waiver wire this week!

Big spender alert: Adam scooped up Jordan Mason for a whopping $65. The next highest bid was at $20.

The following people really wanted their guy and no one else saw a need for them as they were the only claims:

• David claimed Demarcus Robinson for $16
• Andy claimed Allen Lazard for $10
• Tido claimed Dallas Goedert for $6

And Bret had a "lucky" loss. His loss put him at a higher priority in the claim system and won the tie breaker over David for Isiah Likely at $21 (what are the odds of two bids at the same amount?)

Week 1 is always tough and proved so this year with no perfect lineups. Adam got the closest as a percentage of total score hitting 95.5% of his cap. Andy was way off at 62.7%. To lay it on more for our robot overlords on Andy's team, he also could have snuck away with a win if he (and David) both started their best lineups. Not sure who set his lineup but if it was Andy, it might be time to just let the robots fully take over.
